Water Temperature
Water temperature time series data are collected using high-accuracy Subsurface Temperature Recorders (STRs) deployed at permanent coral reef monitoring sites across the U.S. Pacific. The STRs are attached to the reef using zip ties and weights and are typically deployed for 3 years at depths ranging from 0 to 30 meters. STRs provide accurate temperature data at depth, and temperature time series can be used to assess thermal stress experienced by coral reefs during bleaching events. How to download and use our data
Data is archived with NCEI and described on the InPort Metadata Catalog by U.S. Pacific Region. Access links and data files (e.g., split CSVs, QC Reports) are available in the Distribution Information section of the InPort Metadata Catalog.
SOPs
The PIFSC Ecosystem Sciences Division's Ocean and Climate Change team collects data using a variety of methods as described in this paper on in-situ oceanographic observations.
Data Sheets
General datasheets are used to record instrument number and deployment/recovery datetimes.
Access Raw Data
Raw data is archived with NCEI. Metadata is described by region: NCRMP STRs Hawaiian Archipelago - NCRMP STRs American Samoa - NCRMP STRs Marianas - NCRMP STRs Pacific Remote Island Areas (PRIAs)
